2 Peter 1 Challenge
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” 2 Peter 1:5–7
“Giving all diligence” — God calls us to give all diligence to follow these steps, and that requires intentional effort and time.
My challenge to you is to apply these steps to your life in practical ways; do one step each week, or longer if you need more time to establish good habits.
Faith — Faith in Jesus is the foundation of our relationship with God (1 Corinthians 3:11; Hebrews 11:6)
Virtue — Having valor; strength of mind (Proverbs 31:29; search Strong’s G703 and G730)
Knowledge — Studying God’s Word to know doctrines (Hebrews 5:9 through 6:2)
Temperance — Being sober minded, under the control of the Holy Spirit, yielded to Him in order to have real self-control (1 Corinthians 9:25–27)
Patience — Trusting God’s wisdom and love in order to wait well (James 5:11)
Godliness — Being devout; reverent (2 Peter 3:11; search Strong’s G2150, G2152, G2095, and G4576)
Brotherly kindness — Fellowshipping with other believers to motivate them to grow; “provoke to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24–25)
Charity — Caring for the needs of others selflessly (1 Corinthians 13:1–8)
What are some practical ways you can apply these to your life?
